2021 Investment Intern, Techstart Ventures LLP

Requirements:

Time Commitment: 40 weeks placement: Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm

Start Date: September 2021 (Final Date TBC)

Location: Cathedral Quarter, Belfast

Techstart Ventures LLP is a venture capital fund manager with offices in Belfast & Edinburgh and is one of the most active seed capital investors in the UK. From the Belfast office, Techstart Ventures manages a number of seed capital funds and a grant program focused on the Northern Ireland technology sector.

The firm is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual with a strong interest in working with entrepreneurs and early-stage technology companies to join the Belfast team as an Investment Intern. In addition to training regarding individual responsibilities the Investment Intern will gain an insight into the working practices, systems and decision-making processes of an early-stage venture capital fund manager. It is expected that the responsibility and scope of work will increase as the placement student becomes familiar with assigned tasks and the level of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on specific technology areas relevant to companies seeking investment
  • Perform analysis on all fund activities and produce operational reports
  • Produce marketing material and execute marketing activities via numerous channels including social media
  • Review/proof reading of Investment documentsPrepare documentation required for internal and external meetings
  • Assist in the administration of the Grant FundOperating the Grant Management software package
  • Eligibility checking of grant applications
  • Preparing relevant documentationAssisting in the vouching and approving of grant claims
  • Analysis of grant applications and grant beneficiaries
  • Assist in the implementation of workshops and events
  • Event scheduling and promotionPreparation of event invites
  • Handling registrations
  • Preparing relevant event documents
  • Event logistics
  • Post-event administration
  • General Office duties including telephone answering, email enquiries and meeting & greeting clients

Criteria:

  • Current Northern Irish undergraduate student of any discipline
  • Strong academic track record to date
  • Strong analytical, IT and presentation skills
  • Professional demeanour and ability to quickly develop a rapport with colleagues and clients
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, integrity, and a passion for working with entrepreneurs and early stage-technology companies
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
